Meal Planning Tips
Make Your Christmas Day Plate Work for You
- 1Fill half your plate with vegetables - roasted veg, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, and green beans are all excellent choices.
- 2Choose white meat - turkey breast without skin is one of the leanest protein sources available.
- 3Be selective with carbs - choose 2-3 small roast potatoes OR stuffing, not both in large quantities.
- 4Use gravy wisely - a little goes a long way. Skim the fat if making homemade.
- 5Skip the bread sauce - or have a very small portion. It's delicious but calorie-dense.
Remember, Christmas is about balance. You don't need to make every dish healthy - perhaps choose lighter starters so you can enjoy a more traditional main, or keep the main light and indulge in a proper Christmas pudding. The key is being intentional about your choices rather than mindlessly eating everything in sight.
